You'll be staying in Pakefield, atop a dramatic cliff and looking out over a medieval church and panoramic sea view. Pakefield is a historic village just South of Lowestoft, but with an identity all of its own. Ripples of Pakefield’s maritime past are all around, with little fishermen’s cottages on the cliff, fishing boats on the beach and a diminutive 19th century lighthouse nearby. Your imagination will surely be captivated by the tranquillity of the surrounding nature, and the enduring atmosphere hidden in this understated coastal gem.

Lowestoft is popular with families, offering a day on the sand and in the sea, interspersed with ice creams, coffee or fish and chips on the promenade. Cafes. restaurants and pubs offer meals, or a pleasant moment out of the sun. It's accessible to buggies or wheelchairs, with a pleasant walk over the cliffs or along a vibrant promenade. Lowestoft is also the home  of a weekly sea front 'Park Run', Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park, and close to attractions like Africa Alive.

Out and about

Slightly further afield, families can enjoy a day out in Walberswick, Southwold or on the Norfolk Broads. Walberswick, another seaside village, is popular for crabbing, a fun activity to wile away the hours surrounded by a pretty harbour. Southwold, nearby, offers an array of small shops, cafes and a seafront, again lined by beach huts and overlooked by a pier. Here you can eat, or enjoy a novelty arcade, filled with retro games. The broads, a short drive away, offer the opportunity to hire a boat, and enjoy a day exploring the waters. Great Yarmouth, a historic sea-side town, is home to yet another beach, an amusement park, and an aquarium. The hippodrome circus allows for a fun night out.

Family days out can take you to Framlingham castle, Blickling hall, and Sutton Hoo. Experience history and culture, discovering stories from the Anglo-Saxon period, 12th century, and the childhood home of Anne Boleyn.
